GIVECAMPUS 101: Signing up as an Advocate
We’ve provided step-by-step instructions for signing up as a GiveCampus advocate, as well as tips for creating your plea video and sharing it on social.
- Visit giving.unca.edu/givingday2025
- From a phone, click on the “Sign Up” link in the upper right corner of your screen
- Select “Sign up with Facebook” to auto-fill your information and profile picture or complete the requested fields to create your account
- You will receive an email to confirm your GiveCampus account
- Return to giving.unca.edu/givingday2025
- Scroll down to the “About” section of the page and
- Click on the “Advocate” tab (Depending on the size of your device’s screen, you may need to click on the arrow to the right side of the screen to expand options)
- Click on the “Advocate” tab
- Select any of the “Share with your Network” buttons to copy your unique Give UNC Asheville tracking link

Offer a Match or Challenge

Matching Gift: A match can be set up as matching $X per donor OR $X per $1 donated. For example, “Anna Anderson is matching $20 per donor up to $400” OR “Ben Baker is matching $2 per $1 donated up to $1,000″ in support of Give UNC Asheville
- Challenge Gift: A challenge is set up in such a way that a donor will give $X if Y number of donors give OR the donor will give $X if $Y is donated. For example, “Charlie Cromer will give $10,000 if 300 donors give” OR ”Denise Duffy will give $10,000 if $100,000 is donated” in support of Give UNC Asheville.

Plea Video + Sharing Tips
Filming Tips
Audio is important: Choose a quiet location to film so that your voice will be heard with no distracting background noise.
Keep the camera steady: If using your phone and filming yourself, use both hands to grip it and keep your elbows close to your body for more stability.If using your phone and filming yourself, use both hands to grip it and keep your elbows close to your body for more stability.
Hold your phone horizontally: If filming with your phone, hold it horizontally and not vertically.
Use good light: Natural light is best, so go outside if you can. A cloudy day is perfect for filming outside. If filming inside, light up the room as much as possible or film next to a sunny window. The more light, the less grainy your footage will be.
Frame your shot: Film at eye-level or slightly above.
Wear Bulldog Blue: Share your Bulldog pride in your video by wearing a UNC Asheville shirt.
Sharing Tips
Share often: Social media algorithms love new content.
Use your network: Reach out to fellow alumni, friends, and UNC Asheville fans. People can’t donate if they don’t know to donate!
Prioritize Facebook: While it might not be the most “hip” platform these days, it is the most used platform for philanthropy. People are accustomed to making donations on Facebook.
Keep it short: Most people won’t read three paragraphs, so make sure you can sum up your goal in a few sentences.
Mix it up: Adjust your language, tell stories, share photos/videos. Make people want to come along with you on this journey.

The Loyal Blue Donor Society, established in 2024, celebrates the commitment of UNC Asheville’s most dedicated supporters. Your generosity empowers students, faculty, and staff to realize their full potential, elevating UNC Asheville as North Carolina’s premier Liberal Arts and Sciences University. We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support and proud to recognize you as a valued Loyal Blue Donor Society member.
The combined giving for Loyal Blue donors in 2023 was over $4.2 million, including over $3.5 million in scholarships. With over 70% of UNC Asheville students relying on financial aid, the impact of Loyal Blue donors transforms the lives of 1,750 students every year.
Loyal Blue at Work: 152 donors, including 115 alumni, pledged their support to the newly established Drs. Mullen Don’t Be Afraid to Change the World Scholarship in honor of Dwight Mullen and Dolly Jenkins-Mullen, two of the first Black faculty at UNC Asheville.During their individual 30+ -years of service, Mullen and Jenkins-Mullen co-founded the African-American Colloquium, dramatically improving Black student graduation rates in the 1990s. This scholarship was awarded for the first-time during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Endowments
While cash gifts for current use are vitally important, endowments are the bedrock of all great universities. Once fully funded, your gift produces annual income to support the endowment’s purpose for years to come. Endowments provide certain, steady support in perpetuity. Funds invested in UNC Asheville endowments help to offset continued reductions in government support and enable us to plan for the future with greater predictability.
Endowments can be established to support a variety of areas within UNC Asheville. Typical endowments provide funding in the form of scholarships, departmental discretionary support, professorships, and visiting lectures.
